I have an iMac G4/800 running Mac Tiger 10.4.11, 768 ram, dsl internet. I have been using Sophos for Mac Free since it came out. I am not a techie (just learn stuff as I go along), not of the computer generation so this review is just my personal experience with Sophos. For me it just works, in default configuration, accomplishes its tasks flawlessly (a recent update of the Sophos for Mac Free software installed without problem). Because my Mac is quite slow, with Sophos, it takes an extra 15-30 sec. for the computer to boot up. Also the computer slows somewhat during the updates but a small price to pay given the safety, security I feel with the software constantly monitoring my computer. Often, after the computer boots up, I will click on the Sophos icon in the MenuBar, then click Update Now to accomplish the update manually before beginning some other work on the computer. Also, I often use the "Right Click" menu item, "Scan with Sophos" to check files or programs I get from the internet for Malware. I want to thank Sophos for offering this Malware software, especially for Mac users like me, with previous operating systems, hardware components. It shows that Sophos cares about the total Mac community. I will continue to use Sophos for Mac free as long as Sophos continues to offer it.
