Cannot Install Software

When trying to install the software I get a message saying that it is unable to install because "another version Sophos anti-virus software, which is not compatible with this version, is already installed". It tells me I must remove it before I can continue. I did have a Sophos program on my computer years ago provided to me by my post-secondary institution but I thought I had removed completely. I cannot find any files or uninstaller from the old program on my computer. 

Does anyone have any idea on how I can continue installing the new software?

    Hi, I've followed the instructions on here and i'm stil getting the same message from the new sophos installation.  Is there a list anywhere that tell you where to locate any other files?  The installer obviously knows where to look to find stuff!  (Unfortunately I don't have a clue!)
