Mal/ObfJS-B on a Mac

I just ran a scan and it found the Mal/ObfJS-B virus/spyware present.  This appears to be a Windows virus/spyware and, in the Quarantine Manager, recommends to "clean up manually".  The Virus Removal Tool is a .exe file though.  I do have a Windows partition but the file appears to be on the Mac partition ( /Users/xxxxxx/Library/Containers/com.apple.FaceTime/Data/Library/Mail/V2/IMAP-xxx.xxx@imap.gmail.com/[Gmail].mbox/Spam.mbox/F7D0B161-CA14-4939-9ADC-7D1CF5E42C8E/Data/5/3/Attachments/35017/2/Application.htm) so I'm not sure that if I reboot in Windows, if the Virus Removal Tool will be able to access that area.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

  • Hello NRS,

please note that there is a dedicated forum for Mac HE and there you'll find threads about Mal/ObfJS-B (for example here). The Windows partition won't help as you correctly state that it's "on your Mac", furthermore it's in Mail's cache for (your) Gmail Spam folder. So clearing the Spam folder would be one way to get rid of it.

  • Thanks for the information about the Mac HE forum. This didn't seem like exactly the right place. And thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try.
