File path incomplete

My Sophos finds a number of pieces of malware on my backup drive (where it cannot delete them itself), but either (i) does not show the file path at all or (ii) does not have space in its box to fit the full path (it's currently showing "volumes/seagate archive 28 02 11/backups.backupdb/MarksiMac/2014-03-08...", which doesn't even start to show which part of the file structure the malware is in).  How can I delete it?

  • You need to look in the log for the full path.  See: Where are the logs for SAV for Mac?

For items detected in Time Machine watch/listen to the video below for what you need to do to delete the item:

You could just clear the items from the list in quarantine manager if they are in Time Machine and exclude the Time Machine volume from future scans - that wouldn't really hurt anything and is overall less admin.  The items can't run while in a TM backup and if you don't delete the items or exclude the volume they'll be detected again.
