Misbehaviour of menu bar items in 10.9?

Hello,

I'm a happy Sophos Antivirus for Mac user (Home edition), which is installed on my MacBook Pro Retina with OSX 10.9 (French).

I really like your software, which does what it says without being intrusive or heavy on ressources.

That said, I've noticed a misbehaviour in the Finder bar menu : The only keys that work for me here are "Update Now", "Show AutoUpdate Window" and "About Sophos Antivirus". If I click f.i. on "Open Preferences" the command is not executed.

Best regards,
Mani Muller

  • Has this just developed or a long standing problem? If the menu icons have only just stopped working, maybe because of an upgrade to the OS(?), then a reinstall would be the first thing and a reboot after that.

Version 9.0.5 is scheduled for release around the end of November and that’’’’s the totally official Mavericks-supported version (9.0.3 and above should work OK).

Try the above and maybe wait on the release of 9.0.5. Otherwise provide more information on exactly what does and doesn’’’’t work and when the issue began.
