Our Mac was slowing down substantially so my wife ran a Sophos scan - both Mal/ASFDldr-A and Troj/Wimad-E were detected.
Sophos says they have to be removed manually.
My wife tried to track down the source, found they might be on our external drives (a Lacie and WD). They were listed as being in a backup folder, but we haven't done backups like that in years.
My wife decided to deleted the backup folder just to be safe - none of the stuff was important - but the trash just kept on deleting into negative numbers, not stopping.
Now the Mac is slow and crashing, despite the fact that my wife has disconnected the external drives. She has restarted but the trash thing keeps happening and the mac is barely working. She's running a new scan but no luck so far. I'm at work trying to find out anything I can that might help.
Any help/advice appreciated.
