viewing unsecured content on a secure site

My daughter has Anti-Virus 8.0.6 C installed on her macbook pro, running OS 10.6.8.   She is finding that she can't view unsecured content on a secure webpage with any browser- Safari, Firefox or Chrome. Is it possible for the Sophos software to be blocking the unsecured content?  There are security settings within the Mac OS itself but these appear to be setup correctly.

Thanks in advance for any advice you might be able to give.

  • She is at a university.  Windows machines accessing the same site seem not to have the problem.  She gets no warnings that her browsers (all three listed above)  are not showing the unsecure content.  If SAV is only scanning the information being written to the disk then it sounds like I need to get her to look at her system settings.

    Thanks for your help,

    Chris
