slow computer

I have successfully installed Sophos and scanned my HD. But now my computer seems slower in posting web pages and mail. Is this the price I must pay to have "background scanning" of incoming pages? is it worth it?

    Your system should not be significantly slower when using a web browser or mail client.  Were you doing anything else in the background, such as a Time Machine backup or Spotlight index job, or running a program that uses Versions (which will run it's own mini-Time Machine backups)?  You may experience initial slow down in these areas until data is appropriately cached by the OS and Sophos.
