Anti Virus Free for Mac locks machine

Version 7.3.9C

Evertime this aplication updates, it causes my 2010 MacBook Pro (i7 8Gb RAM running Lion) to lock up, causing any keyboard strokes to freeze. 

It is definitely down to Sophos as this doesn't happen if a disable updates. Very disappointed that Sophos didn't test this before realease.

    Having the same issue on any Lion machines in our school district. Has happened on almost all of them. May have something to do with updating, or with Time Machine, or with the invisible temporary folder that Time Machine creates on mobile computers when not connect to your Time Machine hard drive.
