Sophos for MAC OSX Mountain Lion (10.8) shows status in the menu bar twice!

Hello, I am reporting that on my MacBook Air with Mac OSX Mountain Lion installed (10.8) the Sophos icon shows in the menu bar twice. Sometimes the second icon eventually disappears. Also, when I update the Sophos definitions manually using the icon in the menu bar, there are actually appear two status windows showing the same content. They are completely overlapped so that you need to move the first Sophos AutoUpdate Status window to see the other clone. This error was not found on the Mac OSX Lion. I would appreciate any feedback on whether this might indicate a mulfunctioning of the software. Thank you all, Zed.

    I get this too. I'm using an iMac 2.4GHz with 4GB Ram and Mountain Lion. I uninstalled Sophos, then ran a permissions repair in the disk utility, restarted the machine and then reinstalled and all worked fine. Unfortunately, I had to reboot the stsyem some time afterwards and the duplicate icon returned... If this keeps up, I'll uninstall for good... Any pointers would be greatly appreciated...

    I am also getting this with Mountain Lion and my Mac has slowed down significantly.

    I am seeing the same behavior.   2 icons.   

    We went from no icons to two icons.  My guess is someone tried a work around instead of fixing the problem and this is the side effect.

    Go into System Preferences, Users & Groups, Login Items.Delete the Sophos log in entry, and sign out & sign back in (or do a full restart, either works). The second shield should be gone.

    私も同じ現象でした。２重アイコンは、ログイン項目のSOPHOSのエントリを削除して解決しました。

    直接システム内のファイルを操作しませんでした。

    Translation:

    I experienced the same phenomenon. Double icon was resolved by removing the entry for SOPHOS from the login items.

    I did not directly manipulate any files on the system.

    Thank you, this seems to have corrected the two icons problem. I suppose that those of us experiencing a slower Mountain Lion performance might need to uncheck SOPHOS Live Update option.
