How long should clean-up take?

Hi. Sophos AV has been stuck cleaning up a group of viruses for a long time (identified them two days ago, I authenticated and chose cleanup and its been at it ever since). I have quit the program and started again, but makes no difference. If I check in Force Quit, the program isn't reported as stalled. Is this normal?

    Hello Tom,

    cleanup is - AFAIK - an "asynchronous" process, i.e. a thread is released which does all the necessary work and should then call back with success or failure. QM should - IMO - allot a certain amount of time after which the cleanup should be reported as failed/timed out.

    Actions taken should be recorded in the log - I assume there isn't one if the items are still in QM. You could run the scan again (perhaps only scanning the reported paths) to check whether the threats are still found and if they do re-attempt the cleanup. If this doesn't solve your problem please post the details if the detection here.
