using Sophos

i installed Sophos last night and scanned my hard drive.

it found 89 threats on my computer, of which most were .exe files that must have downloaded from crappy web sites.  i was surprised there were that many, but i have not scanned this computer in years.

i have also been using Little Snitch for quite awhile now and am sure it has helped in controlling any viruses as it is set to ask me when anything tries to connect from my computer to internet.  i can then deny it from accessing whatever port it is trying to use if i wish.

i was able to delete all threats with Sophos after locating them.

Thanks Sophos!!

  • Thanks for the positive review :)

    This is the exact setup I use personally, and it works great for me too.

    The exe files were likely remnants of drive-by download attacks, where the infected websites caused your browser to download the files without any action needed by you.  Be thankful that these still all seem to be exe and zip files instead of maliciously crafted dmgs.
