Why is software always updating

I installed Sophos Home Edition for Mac yesterday. I've checked for updates 3 times. Each time it downloads about 460 files (roughly 60-70meg). What's going on? Is the software not updating itself or not recognising it has already accepted these files previously? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    In my experience: if a large collection of files is to be downloaded (maybe once per month) — and if that download is interrupted — SAV will intelligently resume from the point of interruption. 

    If you don't see the intelligent resume, if you truly see three or more downloads of that mass, then something's up. But it won't be a show-stopper. 

    Begin with a Disk Utility verification of your startup volume, then restart the OS.

    If the next automated (or on demand) update seems to begin the ~60+ MB from scratch, post a follow-up and someone can steer you re: clearance of a directory that's used for caching files.
