Sophos Virus Remover

I like this but ...

1.  Does it really have to install every time?  Could it reach out to the web location and update?

2.  Maybe it could remind the user after a period of time that the definitions are out-of-dat and a new copy can be obtained from the following place....  Even having an old copy might be usefuly if it points me to the newer copy.

Thanks,

  • Hi Rb,

In the future we will be including an update system so that a new installation isn't required for the latest protection data. The tool currently expires after 35 days, based on the date of included protection data, so if you install an older copy in error and the data is older then 35 days it will let you know to download a newer one.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there! :smileyhappy:

Could you please clarify whether we have to uninstall the existing version before run the newest one or it is possible to install it just over?...

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi,

At this time Sophos Virus Removal Tool will not operate in safe-mode, this is another feature that we will be adding soon.

    Thanks.

  • Hello rtodd2012,

please post what's been detected (threat name) and where (paths and filenames), a screenshot is also fine (just upload it to some hosting site and include the link here).
