Free Encryption

I recently downloaded and installed the Sophos Free Encryption software. I right-clicked a folder, selected Encrypt & Send, added a password (left everything else default) and sent the email. I then went to another machine (no sophos installed, Windows 7) and decrypt the message. That PC will not do anything with the file. It sends it as a uti rather than .zip. I then went on to try another Windows 7 machine, and the same thing. I was under the impression that this software uses a universal format, and can be decrypted with any software. Am I missing something????

  • Hello xMatter,

it doesn't use a universal format. It supports the creation of self-extracting (and decrypting) archives (though only for Windows) in which case the resulting archive will be an .exe file.
