OSX Lion 10.7.1 - Black shield not in menu bar?

I have recently installed OSX Lion 10.7.1 on my Apple mac book pro and when I download and install the  Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition the Black shield appears - but when I restart the computer the black shield is gone from the menu bar, the app and uninstaller are in the Applications folder, but no black shield? Any ideas?

    Open the Main program (Sophos Anti-Virus.app), Press on the top menu bar, where it says 'Sophos Anti-virus', below 'About...' check if there's a checkmark besides 'Show status in menu bar'.

    Secondly, check in 'System Preferences', under 'Accounts', if 'SophosUIServer (All Users)' is in the Login items.
