Sophos Kernel Panic in Mountain Lion 10.8.1

I am getting at least one crash per day, with Intercheck being the culprit.

  • Do the steps suggested in the previous kernel panic thread resolve your issues?

    Things to check are:

    1) disable Live Protection

    2) disable archive scanning in on-access

    3) disable on-access

After seeing which (if any) of these steps fix your problem, it's on to file paths and hardware:

    0) re-enable the things above

    1) disconnect network shares and external drives

    2) exclude backups and large archives from your scans

    3) check what other automated processes are running at the same time as your scans (backups, spotlight indexing, etc.)

  • Hello,

I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.3 and experiencing the same issues.  I tried your recommendations (Things to check as well as the file paths & hardware), tried uninstalling then reinstalling the program from a new download, and nothing solved the problem.

The only thing that ultimately fixed the issue was to uninstall the program and leave it uninstalled.  I was running SAVosX Version 8.0.12C, with Threat detection engine: 3.41.0.   I've saved several of the system reports the machine generated after an unexpected quit, and also ran your Sophos System Diagnostic Utility and saved the .tgz file it generated, if you're interested in any of those files.

Just with there was a solution; I feel naked without some kind of antivirus program running!
