Manual Cleaning of Threats

I am trying to follow the instructions under add a custom scan of a threat. The instructions say to drag the threat from the Quarantine Manager to a blank space in the Custom Scans list. Well, it will not drag. When I accidentally did something to call it up on the website, however, I saw that the operating system for which it is a threat is Windows. Since I am using Lion OS, can I just delete it from the list and not worry about it? Additionally, if it were a threat to Macs, would it then drag? Why is it not dragging when the instructions clearly say to drag it?

Also the scan of files and folders does not work. It goes a little way, then stops. I've let it run for days! No luck with that.

  •  I can't answer the product parts of your query completely, but I can answer the Windows detection part.  You can safely delete the item from quarantine, but it will show up the next time the file is accessed (quarantine is an information window -- the file is not moved anywhere by default).  You can also trash the file from the Finder if On-Access scanning is temporarily disabled.

However, I was under the impression that you had to drag the file from the Finder to the Custom Scans list -- can someone verify whether you can drag from the QM?  The documentation does imply that you can: "In the list of threats, select the threats that you want to add to a new custom scan.  Drag the selected threats to a blank space in the Custom Scans list.  In the Threat Details box, select the files that you want to add to a new custom scan.  Drag teh selected files to a blank space in the Custom Scans list.  In the Threat Details box, click Path and Filename, and then choose 'Create a Custom Scan of These Files' from the pop-up menu."

Not only are none of those elements draggable (except for the threat name in the Threat Details box), but there are no pop-up menus.  This is true in 8.0.2C and in 7.3.10, although the help is much more informative in 7.3.10 (above exerpt from v8 help only).
