This may be a dumb comment and/or question, but . . . I finally decided I needed to look into anti virus protection for my macbook pro because I was worried I fell for a scam of give-away ipads. I went to sophos.com and actually did hit the free download for mac, but what came up was something called Mackeeper. It seemed strange, but I couldn't figure out what happened or how. I went ahead and ran the scan program, and it detected (of course) TONS of issues. Meantime, I went on a live chat to figure this out, and the person on the chat said it was not free, but cost $39.95 for the basic program. I then asked how to forget it and remove it. He told me how, and from what I see it is gone now. THEN, I went back to sophos.com and tried again. This time it worked fine, running the scan took a long time, and it said there was nothing wrong at all. ?? Am I wrong in being worried about this whole thing?
Also, I downloaded version 8.0.1C. I am not even sure I downloaded the right program. Did I? Any thought are appreciated.
Thanks,
Crookey
