Sophos 8.0.1c - cannot enable on-access scan

I can't enable the on-access scan, it is completely greyed out.  Even when I select the unlock button it remains greyed out.  I've tried restarting, reinstalling, running all scans but there is no way to enable this.  I am the administrator on my account.

Any one else having this issue?

    The scanner recently did a major version update, which includes as part of the update process turning off the on-access scanner.  It appears the updater had issues re-enabling it after the update -- it SHOULD give you an alert in such a case.  Does rebooting the machine and running a manual update fix the issue?

    To completely remove it from your system, run the Sophos Remove.app application in your Applications folder.
