Sophos 8.0.1c - cannot enable on-access scan

I can't enable the on-access scan, it is completely greyed out.  Even when I select the unlock button it remains greyed out.  I've tried restarting, reinstalling, running all scans but there is no way to enable this.  I am the administrator on my account.

Any one else having this issue?

    I am having the same issue with the on access scanning all of a sudden being turned off.  I am sure there are many others who are not even aware that this has happened.  I know for me it took me some time to catch and I put off working on it.  As a IT security person I have questions as how this could happen?  Did something malious disable the scanner?  What is the root cause and how is it fixed?  I would like to see some real directions posted on how to fix it.  Not just guesses.  Thx.  Right now I don't trust the product to be doing its job correctly.  Where can I find the directions to completly remove it from my system?
