first of all, if you are talking about SAV for Mac HE please note there's a dedicated board in the Sophos FreeTalk forum.

Now to answer your question: It is not recommended to run two AV programs if both programs perform on-access (or real-time) scanning. Apart from the obvious performance penalty this can cause system instability or lockups. You can, of course, let one do the on-access scans and use the other for additional scheduled or on-demand scans.
