A really basic question

I have just installed Sophos for Mac on my MBP. I have run a full system scan too.

(By the way, some large .dmg files I have for Office 2011 and Google Earth etc took a long time, but it finished eventually without any particular problem)

Now, there is the "shield" in the task bar and the preferences are set for on-access scanning.

Does this mean that I can now "quit" the main application in the dock, in order perhaps to reduce the overhead in the computer memory?

Thanks for any clarification.

  • Hello dbrick,

it is supposed to update itself - although if you have told it not to update of course it won't. The setting should be visible under Preferences->AutoUpdate - is Check for updates ... ticked? What does the log say to your untrained eye which makes you think it is telling you it doesn't update :smileyhappy:?
