Root kit scan results advice

Hello forum.

A bit of sound advice is required (for me) as I've just had some confusion with the results from a root kit scan (free v1.5) which showed 186 suspicious files.  Analysis gave me no indication of whether the the files where infected or not.  Information merely stated - unable to clean, cleaning not recommended etc....  So, what's my next action? can anyone suggest something? Also, is it possible that they are not actually  infected - if they where surely a positive ID would have been flagged by the app.

Many thanks in anticipation of a little advice.

  • Hello tatt,

care to give one or two examples? If the message is "hidden from Windows API" or something like that this could be "normal". Lenovo's "Rescue and Recovery" for example creates a "super-hidden" folder for it's backups and it's contents of course trigger detection.
