Anti-Rootkit reports hundreds of hidden files, but they aren't hidden

Hi, I ran your Anti-Rootkit program just to see if it was something I wanted to recommend to others. System was 64 bit Windows 7 (Home Premium) that I was confident was clean. The scan showed hundreds of "unknown hidden file"s. All were removable (but not recommended). There were no more details available for any of them. All were .EXE files except for a few Firefox profiles. I recognized all the files listed and manually checked more than a dozen and none of them were hidden by any definition I would use. They are all visible in Windows Explorer. I'm guessing you have a bug but if you think this system has some new type of malware, let me know. Also FWIW, the log files mentioned in your documentation were NOT in %Temp% of the user that ran the scanner.

I have a simular situation. After runing Anti-Rootkit, the scan reported 72 rootkits, but suggested none be removed. Should I leave them alone?

I had the same problem when I upgraded to the 5.0 version of Rootkit. I had to go back and use the latest version in the 4.0 family of Rootkit.
See if that works for you.

I had a window pop-up from Firefox telling me that an unauthorised program was attempting to update my system - never had this before and I've been using Firefox for more than 3 years. Now, Anti-Rootkit is giving me a similar problem. Where do you start to put it right ?

Is there an answer to this problem??? am doing a scan now for the first time and it is finding loads of 'hidden objects' cleanup not recommended, so what do I do, just ignore them???????

I noticed this too. Not hundreds but a few hidden files.
They didn't seem suspicious so I left them alone.
