Sophos 3.74.6 (Android): Pop-Ups

Hi,

i have an Android 8.1.0.

Since the last update of Sophos i get a "permission" pop-up every few seconds.

It asks me to allow "access to usage data", what i don't want to permit.

But when i close the app/window it takes only a few seconds until it pops up again.

So that's really annoying and basically makes it impossible to me to use my phone.

Is there any way to stop this? (other than deleting Sophos or giving it this permission)

  • It's Sophos Mobile Security, but has 2 different Version numbers:

    - 9.0.2992 (where i can permit "access to usage data")

    - 3.74.6 (in it's own settings as "Sophos Anti-Virus Engine")

Actually there are many others in Google Play Store complaining about the same problem.

I'm sorry, but i'm not going to permit anything, so i hope you'll fix this immediatly...

  • Hi

Thank you for providing the details. So it seems that you are using the latest version of Sophos Mobile Security and as stated in this article, Sophos mobile security does require permissions to a few resources of the smartphone in order to perform all its activity to protect your smartphone. A brief explanation is also provided in the article as to why those permissions are required by the application.

  • But that doesn't answer my question.

I don't want any forcing pop-ups, you're just ignoring the real problem many of your users.

  • Hi

You can try stopping all the notifications for this application but I don't think it will stop the pop-ups/splash screens. Since Sophos mobile Security is not given all the permissions, it will show you those pop-ups. It is not possible to stop them as of now. I would request you to submit a feature request so that our product management team can have a look at this.
