Sophos 6.0 boot loop

Just installed Sophos 6.0 encryption software on a new Fujitsu T902 laptop. Restarted the machine after install and now it's caught in a boot loop. BIOS comes up, a flash of Sophos starting, restart, rinse, wash, repeat. The laptop was just loaded with Windows XP SP3. All drivers and updates are installed. Only change made to the laptop's default is the HDD is running in IDE mode for Windows XP's sake. I know there's nothing to do to save this installation, but any help for future installations would be appreciated.

    Hi Mike,

    Actually installation would be saveable if the disk was not yet encrypted. Simple fixboot and fixmbr would remove the Sophos bootloader and return you to a working machine where you could then uninstall/reinstall Sophos.

    Running HD in IDE mode's a bit of a killer. AHCI would be better but you'd need to slipstream the appropriate drivers onto the XP install disk or use the F6 option to incorporate them into the install.

    Endless reboot sounds oh so familiar to me. One of the reasons we dropped SGN on our new Ultrabooks. You could try the hot-keys one by one and see if there's a particular hardware issue. If you press the Shift key immediately you see the first Sophos message, it should say waiting for hot-key and then you could go through this list http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/107781.aspx. In my case, F6 lowered ATA to int13 mode on the SATA controller which then made it feel like wading through mud shooting up boot time from a spritely 15 seconds to just over 2 minutes.
