Laptops with Insyde BIOS

Hi

I am trying to encrypt HP laptops which use the Insyde BIOS but I'm having problems.  Normally before encrypting I change the laptop's BIOS hard disk mode from AHCI to compatibility (or SATA).  This allows the disk to be encrypted and work fine.  If it isn't changed the laptop wont boot up after encryption.

My problem is Insyde BIOS laptops dont have any options for changing the hard disk mode.

Are you familiar with this problem and is there a workaround?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as we may have to ditch SafeGuard in favour of another encryption product, as we have a lot of laptops using Insyde BIOS.

Best Regards,

Stuart

  • I also logged a support ticket with Sophos and got a phonecall this morning.  Basically there isn't a workaround, the disk mode needs to be changed and if the BIOS is hiding/restricting then thats the responsibility of the manufacturer to resolve.  The guy I spoke to at Sophos was very helpful however and suggested contacting HP to see if they have any less restrictive BIOS firmwares not on their website.

I've opened a call and will wait and see what they say.
