SGE hanging at boot

Just installed a demo of Safe guard Easy on an XP Sp2 system

installed ok

encrypted ok

set up the pre-bot authentication ok

Booted ok first time  (Safeguard is starting, then blue splash, then XP booted ok)

(cant remember if I had to entermy password, probably

Shut down

booted from CD (winPE) to confirm C: was now inaccessable  -- shows as RAW

Booted from HD again

Got Safeguard is starting

and then the blue splash

then another Safeguard is starting (if I remeber right)

Then stuck with a balck screen and powere goes into idle

PC is still alive (num lock responds etc)

but no disk activty and nothing happening

Ctrl_ALt_Del  (a few times)

reboots and does the same

How can I get in ?

or take off the pre-boot   and/or decrypt ?

WHats this shift-F3 ?   doesnt do anything for me at the moment, maybe need to press sooner ?

    NB I have saved the key

    where do I get the 'recoverkeys' program or the think I can run from Winpe of another windows installation to access or unecrypt the drive ?

    One other question

    when I installed the demo it went immdiately into encrypting drive (and puting on the PBA?)
    Is there a way to install but skip the encryption for now and not put on the pBA ?

    My systems still sitting there with a black screen  (and monitor saying no video input)

    Hi Stephen,

    welcome to the forum.

    Here are some answers to your questions:

    1. Sitting at the black screen with no progress might be video card issue. Please be so kind and try all available hot keys at POA level. You can find a detailed description how to apply them and which actions can be done looking into KBA 107781 or just follow this link: http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/107781.html

    2. The version that you downloaded (probably directly from the web page) does automatically encrypt the drive - if you want to have a different version please be so kind and contact a Sophos sales representative - he will be able to provide with further information and a non demo version that will not automatically encrypt.

    3. The tool you are looking for are part of our WinPE CD's - download details can be found in KBA 108805 or just follow this link: http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/108805.html

    I hope that these answer will help you on.

    In case that you are still encountering some issues with the machine please be so kind and open a new support call. When doing so please provide detailed information about that hardware that you are using (best would be an extract of msinfo32 saved as NFO file)
