Removed hard drive with Safeguard easy - integrity check for data area failed -

Hi!

We've got a hard drive which is encrypted (partition or whole, we dont know yet, but the partitions are visible but not accessible) with SafeGuard Easy. Also have the password for the system, but when we try to boot from the hard drive it says:

"Integrity check for data area failed"

The notebook where the drive was used died. Is there any way to backup the data housed on the drive without a kernel security backup?

Thanks

Dfr

    Hi Dfr,

Thank you for posting your question in the SophoTalk Community forum.

If I understand this correctly you have a SGE 4.x drive encrypted from a notebook which failed. You are trying to get the data off using an unspecified method and you don't have a kernel backup.

If the drive is working, stick it in another laptop and boot from there. If it's the same make and model as it's prior host, then you should be back to square one. Otherwise, asusming the connectors match and nothing on the drive changes, you can still get PBA and boot into Windows. Windows may complain a lot about new devices being found, but your data should be safe.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
