no assigned key to recover computer

In our company we are doing a domain migration, and some problems have arose with some of the laptops that have SG Enterprise installed (we have v 5.4). This particular one, with one laptop which was migrated with some migration tool and then the user worked for the rest of the day (yesterday), but this morning the user wouldn't pass the POA, neither the support personal trying to log as Administrator (they were registered in POA level).

So far a normal Challenge/Response situation. My surprise was to find that the machine, which was now in the new domain, did not have any Inventory information. I checked the machine in the former domain, no inventory info either, no users, nothing. I Checked the keys and turns out that the BOOT key, the one it encrypts the disk with, was inactive.  So when I tried to perform a Challenge/Response, I couldn't pass the first screen where you put the computer name and domain because of the message: "Missing POA or key information. Please check computer's inventory".

How can assign the key back to the machine so I can perform a C/R normally?

We can recover the info (via connecting the HD to another machine, or with the WinPE SGN CD. I just want to know if this problem is known before we send the machine out to format,

Thank you.

  • Hi there,

recovering the machine by slaving the drive should definitely be possible at this point. Just follow the instructions in our KBA 108156.

When doing changes on a system such as moving a machine from one domain to another we highly recommend to reboot the machine afterwards immediately to check that the function range of the machine was not negatively influences somehow.
