Why Does SGN v5.40 Take 8+ Hours To Encrypt Windows 7 Devices?

The time it takes to encrypt Windows 7 Enterprise devices isn't looking good.  I have tried on at least 10 different newer models from Dell and Lenovo.  I've also tried it on an SSD drive (Intel X25-M) and still took 8+ hours for encryption.  Additionally the time to go from power on to the Windows desktop has now tripled.  When I tested the same devices with Windows XP with SP3 installed I experienced excellent encryption times (compared to SGE anyways) and the boot up time had an acceptable increase in of less than double.

  • Sumladar,

I have got a Dell Latitude D630 with Windows 7 and SafeGuard 5.40 (Full Disc Encryption) and do not have any issues, it encrypted relatively swiftly and boots faster than XP previously did :-)

I've not tried it on any other models yet but do have the E series floating around.
