Hello, it is possible to optimize the boot time with Safe Guard Easy 6.00.1.31?
With a new Windows 7 64Bit Sp1 is the boot time longer than 2 minutes.
Please reply me.

Hi StG123,
If you don't use any USB smartcard readers / tokens in the POA you have the possibility to turn off the USB support in the POA.
On most hardware this does not affect any USB keyboards or pointing devices which are connected to the machine, they can still be used in the POA when USB support is switched off.
You can turn off the POA support with the hotkey combination SHIFT+F5, this can be done by pressing the hotkey while the POA starts to boot, you can also define this hotkey as a parameter when installing the SGN client package via msiexec (See SGI 107781 for more details on this).
Per default the USB support is switched on.
With USB support switched off the boot time will improve as the USB kernel is not loaded anymore.
Hope that helps,
Chris
Chris,
You're still going to be looking at > 90 seconds regardless. SGN's kernel self load time is pretty poor compared to other encryption engines e.g. TrueCrypt loads in 2 seconds, PGP seems to be around 8 seconds. Sophos SGN documentation quotes typically 90 seconds added to boot time. Pretty poor really when you consider that many of the new bread laptops can load the entire OS from a conventional drive in less than 20 seconds but SGN still requires > 90 seconds to load around 100Mb's of itself. It's the primary reason we've not dropped SGN from our install set.
