Is there a method to not use bitlocker for encryption in Safeguard Enterprise?

I am migrating away from the Encryption in Endpoint protection. Running Saeguard Enterprise 7. For ease of use I would rather encrypt all my machines using safeguard, not bitlocker. I find with Windows 8.1 Pro Safeguard wants to encrypt using bitlocker. I have a mix of Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8.1 workstations. Disableing the bitlocker service prevents the Windows 8.1 workstation from encrypting.
