I am unable to log in to Safe Guard Easy

Hi folks,

I installed Safe Guard Easy 4.50.3.19 recently. I am unable to enter it as it is not accepting my u/name nor my password. I am quite sure about the password I entered but during the installation no u/name was asked. Two passwords were asked and I used the same for both. As "user" without the quotes I am able to access the program but it is obviously crippled since I am unable to enter it as an administrator. I have used all u/names possible which includes Administrator, the computer name it is registered to as well as used the password for both the u/name and pword but nothing works. Can anyone please help as to how I can get access to the s/ware. I use a single user machine with Windows XP Professional SP2.

I am desperately in need of help as this s/ware before booting asks for the u/name and p/word and I am not being able to get in. PLEASE HELP. If anyone can tell me how I can uninstall the program that would be truly great. Hope to hear from someone soon.

Thanx in advance.

Hugs and Love,

Ronobir

  • Another tip is if SG Easy is installed and PBA is enabled BUT the drive is *not* encrypted you can refresh the MBR or use a tool like FixMBR to remove the SG Easy MBR. Keep in mind that while this will remove the PBA from your boot process, SG Easy is still installed. At least from this point where you are booting into Windows, you can either:

    1. Attempt to figure out the SYSTEM password to uninstall or reconfigure,
    2. Move data off of computer, delete partitions, etc.... then move data back onto computer or
    3. Live with it unencrypted knowing that there is still the risk of your data being compromised.

Going forward, the lesson learned is to keep track of username and passwords entered during an installation for security software, especially on production devices where encryption is involved.

As a side note, Sophos doesn't have any backdoors or magic tools to unlock a protected device if the hard drive is encrypted and the security credentials are lost.

I have to ask, did you do a kernel backup after SG Easy was installed and finished the first reboot?
