Supported and available versions of Lenovo fingerprint software

Hi,

Sophos Article ID: 111626 (http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/111626.html) lists the following:

BEGIN QUOTE:

"The following combinations of SafeGuard Enterprise and Lenovo ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software have been tested and are supported:"

SGN 5.50.8 with ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software 5.8.5.6580 (XP/Vista), ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software 5.8.6.6763 (Win7), Lenovo Fingerprint Software 3.3.2.27 (XP/Vista), Lenovo Fingerprint Software 3.3.2.42 (Win7)"

END QUOTE:

We use SGN 5.50.8 and Windows 7, but can not find either of the Windows 7 versions listed in this article.

Not only this, but the Lenovo website once again lists different supported versions. See: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70064

This has been a repeating issue for quite some time now. (See my previous thread: /search?q= 5311)

Could someone please update the Sophos KB Article to list the latest supported Sophos versions that are available to general public to download.

I did raise a Sophos support ticket on this, and it was suggested that the version listed in the Sophos Article was probably a version given to the Sophos developers from Lenovo, and that the Sophos technical representative agreed that:

A. The versions listed were not found anywhere on the Lenovo site

B. The supported versions on the Lenovo site are different to the ones Sophos have listed.

This is highly frustrating as we use various Lenovo hardware models and need to ensure that we use the supported version from Sophos. - otherwise our tickets get rejected.

Not only this but correcting the Sophos KB Article will help other Sophos customers.

Please update.

Thanks,

RL

Thanks

  • Nice to see that after posting to the forums, raising a support call (and the Sophos reps agreeing with me), and using the Contact Us for for KB comments, that no-one has bothered to amend the KB.

Glad to see Sophos continue to ignore customers!
