Resize and create new partition on an encrypted disk

Hello!
I have encrypted whole disk with SafeGuard Easy (4.30) . I have only one partition on that disk and would like to resize and create another partition. Is it possible to do it without destroying my data?

  • Hi MaG,

Thank you for joining the SophosTalk Community and posting your question here.

I wish I could tell you that you can resize an encrypted partition but it's not possible. You would have to uninstall SGE which will decrypt the partition, resize your drive and then reinstall SGE to reencrypt the drive.

I wish I could tell you that you can resize the partition, but the partitioning tools don't know the difference between an encrypted partition and one that's in plaintext.

I think I will manage to work on one disk for now and see later if I need to resize it.

    Thanks again!
