Reading sector failed - SGEasy 5.50

Hi, can anyone help me with this?

I have installed SGEasy 5.50 onto my HP ProBook 4530s running Windows 7 32-bit.

After a reboot following the installation of the Encryption part, I get Sophos is Starting, followed by the Sophos splash screen telling me Autologin will start automatically.

I then get the following.....

SafeGuard is loading OS now!

Reading sector failed!

System halted.

Has anybody seen this before?

Regards

Jason

  • Hi Jason,

many thanks for your forum posting.

Please check that your Bios is on the latest version and try the POA hotkeys. Specially Shift+F6 which switches from ATA to INT13.

You will find all available Hotkeys in our Knowledge Base Article: 107781.

    Regards,

    Tim

  • Hi Jason,

I just got in a HP ProBook 6560b that's doing the same thing.

Did those suggestions work? Did you ever get it to work?

    Thanks,

    Bryan

  • Hi all,

Had exactly the same problem as the other posts here, also on the Probook 6560b with the same client version and the suggestion provided by Tim solved the problem.  I did also consider whether certain BIOS options on the SATA mode (AHCI vs IDE) could also have caused the issue.

    Thanks for the posts.

  • Just had the same error on a nearly new HP ProBook 6465b Win 7.

Shift F5 worked for me (toggle USB support).

Shift F6 failed - I got an additional error "no init".

I also tried the BIOS Sata emulation setting (IDE | AHCI) but although this got past the POA stage, Windows 7 then failed to load and cycled, so is back on AHCI.
