We are trying to deploy SGE via group policy and we cannot get it to work. We have tried assigning it to a user as well as a computer and no success. Can someone tell me what I am missing?

  • Hi smanuel,

The policy should be assigned to a computer, not a user.  One thing I did notice though is that you have to enable the "Ignore language when deploying this package" option - the installers are in German!  Don't worry though, the actual program still runs in English - it's just a bit confusing if you ever manually uninstall the product :smileyhappy:

Hopefully this should sort out the issue.

(Edit: I am, of course, assuming you're not in Germany.  If you are, then this reply will be irrelevant!)

  • Worked like a charm!

Thank you so much. Saved me a few headaches. I think that setting should be listed in the documentation for the SGE GPO guide.

  • Hi smanuel, RBGE,

we have a KBA incl. a document that explains the software distribution via Windows Group Policy but it does not mention the "ignore language settings" option. We will add this hint to our documentation.

    Thank you,

    ChrisD
