No F9 to get challenge/response

I'm in a pickle hope someone can help.

I have an HP elitebook running Safeguard Easy v4.50.3

It was set up to autologin (Safeguard) and would go straight to the Windows login screen. Today my user profile became corrupted so I created a local admin account, logged in using it and renamed my profile. After rebooted I'm presented with the Safeguard User/Password prompt. I've been through several windows password changes and don't remember the password at the time I configured Safeguard. I called my company's helpdesk and they tell me to press <F9> to get the challenge/response but nothing appears (not using an external keyboard). Needless to say the helpdesk is baffled. Any help will be appreciated.
