SafeGuard encryption not installing on Windows 7 Pro 64bit

Hello,

The company I work for is deploying some Dell Ultrabook XPS 13s to a test group to see how it goes. One of the things I need to install is SafeGaurd Easy v6.00. However it fails everytime. I am using a script that was originally setup by a Sopho representative for us, but it doesn't appear to work on Windows 7. It goes through the motions and then nothing happens. I wait for a restart and nothing. So then I ran the 64bit setup file that script was originally suppose to call and it goes through its configuration and then again nothing happens. I waited like 5-10 mins for a reboot and no such thing happened. So I rebooted myself and it went through the Sophos autologon sequence and brought me to the Windows 7 login screen, where it appeared to have created a seperate login for Sophos. I logged into the account with my admin credentials and Windows loaded, however the encryption process never begins. Any ideas?

  • OK I've resolved this myself.

First of all I just can't use the script anymore.

It comes to just installing everything in the right sequence and making sure the BIOS is updated. So here is what I did.

    1. Made sure BIOS was updated

    2. Made sure I had the latest POA CFG file

    3. Run SGxClientPreinstall.msi

    4. Run SGNClient_x64.msi

    5. Run ClientConfig.msi

    Then it installed fine.

  • HI There

I had the same issue with the XPS14, I had deployed Sophos AV and Firewall to the machines but when it came to the disk encryption 1 machine installed no problem all the others just would not .

After lots of investigation it turns out that the Sophos AV install did not fully remove the Mcafee pre-installed software fully. After running  the following link http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

i am now able to install the disk encryption with out any issues.

    Hope this helps

    Jamie
