Encrypting Disk via Policy Editor

Hello,

i want to ask if somebody can help me by encrypting my disk. I already installed SafeGuard Easy 6 on Windows Server 2008 and followed the startup guide. After setting some policies and creating Service Account List, I created a configuration package. I installed preinstalling package and clientinstall package on Windows 7 endpoint. Now I am afraid to install the created configuration package, because i don't defined a passphrase! How can i define a passphrase for the configuration package? It would be nice if somebody can help me !

Best regards

  • Hi beginner86,

the Power-on Authentication (POA) will be protected with your Windows Username and Password and the user account is automatically synchronized from Windows to the POA once you login to Windows using the SafeGuard Credential Provider after the Client Configuration package has been installed.

In addition to the Windows accounts, you can specify so called "POA Account" which are primarily used for maintenance tasks (see manual extract below for details)

"Chapter 11.2 POA users for POA logon (ssg_60_h_eng_admin_help.pdf)

After Sophos SafeGuard has been installed and the Power-on Authentication (POA) has been activated, access to endpoint computers to perform administrative tasks may be required. With POA users, users (for example, members of the IT team) can log on at the Power-on Authentication on endpoint computers for administrative tasks without having to initiate a Challenge/Response procedure. There is no automatic logon to Windows; users have to log on to Windows with their
    existing Windows accounts.

You can create POA users in the SafeGuard Policy Editor, group them into POA groups, and assign groups to endpoint computers using Sophos SafeGuard configuration packages. The users included in the POA group assigned, are added to the POA and can log on using their predefined user name and password."

    Regards,

    Chris
