Do I need the Policy editor for a Sophos SafeGuard Easy 6 Encryption software installation?

I have to install the Sophos SafeGuard Easy 6 encryption software on my computer as a standalone installation.

As I read in the installation quick start guide, the first step should be to install the policy editor on a server and then the encryption software on the computer to protect. But I didn't find a information, that I can install the SafeGuard encryption software disregarding the Policy Editor. I assume that this must be possible, but I'd like to have this confirmed. If I do that, do I have to make a step replacing the fact that there will be no policy editor to create some policies ?

Any hint would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Maga,

you need to install the SafeGuard Easy Local Policy Editor in the first step, to be able to setup and configure your policies and create a client configuration package, that should be used on the SafeGuard Easy client(s).

The Local Policy Editor installation is required once, regardless of the amount of SafeGuard client installations.
