Enterprise Hard Drive Encryption - Confirm Installation

Can you confirm that EHDE is loaded on a PC if I find SGNGINA.DLL in the registry of the PC?

Is there a specific file that I can scan in the C directory of the PC to confirm that the PC is encrypted?

Thanks.

  • I assume you are trying to verify if your C drive is encrypted with volume encryption.

If you right click on the C drive and click on the "encryption" tab, there will be a box that shows the key used to encrypt the drive, as well as a checkbox that is labled "Media Encrypted".  If that is checked, your drive should be encrypted.

  • Thank you for the response.  I need to scan over 500 laptops and determine which are encrypted and which aren't.  This is the reason I am looking for a specific file.  As an example, could I say with certainty that if I find "SGGINA.DLL" in the registry that the PC is encrypted?  Are there any other files that I could look for that would tell me with certainty that the PC is encrypted?

    Thank you.

  • Easier way is to check presense of cer and P12 files in %APPDATA%\Utimaco\SafeGuard Enterprise\LocalCache\uma\cert directory. This would indicate that user assignment is completed and policies have been receieved.

Alternatively, you can use SGNState command line utility from %PROGRAMFILES%\Sophos\SafeGuard Enterprise\Client and parse its output.
There are also reports available from SGN MC or you can create your own SQL ones.
