SafeGuard Enterprise 5.60.1.7 and Wireshark

Hi all,

I have a SGN user complaints that whenever he runs Wireshark on his laptop with SGN client installed and running, he gets a blank screen with a blinking cursor on the top left corner.  He said that never happened with Wireshare before SGN was introduced to his laptop.  He needs to use Wireshark for his work and this is impacting his work.  What can be done to address this issue so he can use Wireshark while his laptop is still being protected by Safeguard?

Thank you,

David

  • Hello David,

For information, my collegues and I regularly use wireshark and we have never experienced such issue. We have worked with different SGN version (5.40.x to 5.60.x) and different windows version (XP SP2/SP3, 7 & 7SP1).

    Best regards,

    Emmanuel

  • Hi Emmanuel,

Thank you for your reply and information on this subject.  I will have to try it on a test machine and see if I can reproduce the issue my colleague reported.

    Thanks,

    David

  • Wireshark should not mess with the boot up options or components of either Windows nor Safeguard. What is more likely is that the user inadvertently installed something else along with Wireshark that hosed the system. In which case, it is probably less time consuming to recover his data, nuke the drive, and re-image the machine.
