SGE 4.50.3 new install: system hangs

Windows XP Sp3

SGE 4.50.3

SGE installed. PC restarted. Encryption starts. After a while Windows crashes with an unknown error (end-user not able to inform precisely what occurred). Reboot, PBA appears, password entered. Windows proceeds to load. Windows logon screen is presented. Password entered and Windows GUI proceeds to load. However it, apparently, never finishes to load and thus we're unable to do anything with the machine. The SGE GUI, showing encryption status never shows.

We are able to load Windows in Safe Mode. I run SGESTATE.EXE and was able to see that SGE is Encrypting and is at 13%.

I've tried to remove SGE in SAFE MODE but it doesn't work, says that it's not possible to remove in SAFE MODE.

But, after a while, also the Windows Safe Mode GUI becomes unresponsive.

I've tried to uninstall SGE, via the recovery CD but it doesn't work because it says that state is active or something similar. Using the recovery diskette is the same, all option all greyed out.

CHKDSK doesn't report any errors.

Any ideas? Any way to remove SGE?

  • Hi JCarvalho,

thank you very much for posting and welcome to the forum!

With regards to your description I would like to ask you to open a ticket with the local support so that the colleagues can ask a couple more of information and then advise next steps.

If a system is in such an unstable state you have to be careful with regards to the next steps that should be carried out =)

    Regards
