sync/encrypt start delay, SG Easy 5.60

Hi,

We have SG Easy 5.60 installed in test enviroment. The problem is, that SG won't start sync to policy server right after install, so the encryption process won't start. One test pc started the process next day after install. All connections to server share are working properly. We tested with multiple login attempts, but still the process won't start instantly. Is there any way to modify policy (increase the tryout time to policy server, default is 4mins), or trigger the process remotely to client pc. This kind of long delay is not acceptable, because our clients use mobile broadband connections. It might cause us some issues.

  • Hi JJ-76,

thank you very much for posting and welcome to the forum.

With regards to your request I can provide you with the following information:

    1. The recommended server connection time is 240 minutes. Having such a short interval as 4 minutes can even slow down the server massively. This can result in a situation where the clients will wait for their policies quite long - this seems to be the same situation at your site.

    2. A client will connect to the server every time it is started and after the installation > so based on the assumption that the server is at a normal load level the client will pick up his policies automatically and instantly start encryption.

    3. SafeGuard Enterprise offers the possibility to add policies to the Client Configuration package - for example the encryption policy. However, we recommend not to do so as it can happen that the machine is lost. If a client starts to encrypt but has never contacted the server recovery will not be possible for that machine. This needs to be considered when including the policy into the Management Center. Information how to add policies to packages can be found here:
