SafeGuard Errors in Reports

Hello,

Got a couple of errors reported when running reports in the SafeGuard Management Center.  Didn't know if there was a document that discloses information about the error and what exactly it means and if it needs to be resolved and if so how.

Do any of you have these errors or know about them and what to do?

Error ID 3604 Category: Encryption

Encryption error - Engine: Volume C:\ bad, NT-Status = 0xc0000010.

Error ID 3560 Category: Encryption

Area 8193 protection, method 0-3.

On Microsoft's website an NT-Status = 0xc0000010 indicates:

0xC0000010
STATUS_INVALID_DEVICE_REQUEST

The specified request is not a valid operation for the target device.

I guess I could check the logs to make sure the hard drive isn't bad or has bad tracks, sectors, etc.

The two errors I have posted are not from the same PC.  They are from different PCs.

  • Hi taekwanleap,

"Encryption 3604 Encryption error - Engine: Volume bad." indicates that the volume - in this case C:\ - is not in a good condition and it is likely that SafeGuard Enterprise "hit" a bad sector on the drive during initial encryption.

In this case (depending on the SafeGuard Enterprise version) Encryption stops and the SafeGuard Enterprise Base Encryption Viewer states that an error occurred. The detail pane states Error Type: Encryption, SGN Error: 3604 ...
Note that since SafeGuard Enterprise 5.35, bad sector handling has been improved so it is less likely that encryption will stop because of defective HDD.

"Error ID 3560 Category: Encryption - Area 8193 protection, method 0-3."

This error occurs when the Operating System tries to access a protected area of the encryption agent – i.e., the Power-on Authentication or the SafeGuard Enterprise LocalCache folder.

If this event occurs frequently, it indicates that the necessary preparation for installation of encryption software was not done.

    Hope that helps.

Btw: Information from above is also located in our Knowledge Data Base , just search for the Error IDs 3604 and 3560 and you should be presented with the Knowledge Base Article ;)

    Cheers,

    Chris
