Laptop Locked before chance to activate a recovery key!!

Installed pre file

then installed client package. seemed to work ok.

then when i re-booted the laptop to longon on to the domain the sophos logon screen indicated that the laptop is Locked.

Initiate the C/R but we have safeguard editor setup and running ok. this laptop has not been assighned onto the database where can i get the recovery key from. Or how can i get round the logon screen to get into the laptop and set it up in safeguard policy editor. We have a sony laptop already on the database and that is the only recovery key available.

Laptop is a HP compaq 6715b running windows XP

    Hi bobbyrobert,

    the only way to get a recovery file in an umanaged environment is directly on the machine.

    You could try to log on using the Safemode w/o network connection to access the machine.

    Hi Dan,

    Many thanks for your quick reply

    Soon as i switch on the machine in question the safeguard boot up starts then i get the blue logo safeguard screen. i hear a beep as the POA kicks in and it tells me my laptop is locked use C/R  and then thats when it presents me with a key. I then put this into the safeguard policy edito. But the thing is im only presented with the key for the Sony laptop which has safeguard installed correctly. Where would i get the correct key from for this HP locked laptop. Or is there another option which enables me to by pass the C/R.
