Safeguard Easy - recovery after stolen laptop

Hi all,

This is my first post here, so if this has been answered in a previous post or there is documentation to it, please point me there.

I have a customer who had their laptop stolen. It was encrypted with Safeguard Easy. We managed to get the hard drive back, but not the actual laptop. Obviously we know the password. How do I go about getting the data off the drive?

    Hi Nick_CT,

    welcome to the forum!

    With regards to your question it would be important what version of SGE your are using and if there is any back up of the relevant SafeGuard data is available.

    It might be the best if you open a call with support to clarify these things.

    While speaking to support is certainly the best option, if you just want to grab data from the HD then this page may be of use: http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/108805.html

    I use Safeguard Easy as well and have used this myself to recover data - the screenshots in the attached PDF are for an older version of the product, but still apply with some very minor differences (menu names, screenshots, etc...).

    Just make sure you download the correct version of the PE disk - the wrong version will not work.
